Hemming systems constitute an important joining technique in the carbody manufacture. In addition to the closures (doors, bonnets and tailgates/hatchbacks) this technique is also used for the reliable hemming of sunroofs. As one of the leading suppliers in this area, ThyssenKrupp Drauz Nothelfer has developed different systems in close co-operation with its customers.
In addition to optimised solutions for volume production with extremely short cycle times ThyssenKrupp Drauz Nothelfer also offers equipment for niche vehicles. Special emphasis is always placed on the customer’s requirement for increasing fitting accuracy and minimum gap dimensions at reduced costs and with maximum process reliability.
ThyssenKrupp Drauz Nothelfer uses the tabletop hemming devices for volume production from medium to high production volumes, achieving cycle times down to 15 seconds. This technique enables reliable hemming of different materials, from high-strength steels to aluminium.
Advantages:
A particularly flexible solution in the closure manufacture is robotic or roller hemming. The flange of the outer panel is bent over the inner panel and the reinforcement panel in several steps by means of the roller hemming head. With this technology panels of different materials such as aluminium or magnesium can also be manufactured economically in small quantities.
